Celebrities are quick to embrace the latest trend. This time, the speed of acceptance has been phenomenal. What was once a rarity a few months ago is now the norm as magazines in America, Australia and France are advocating that producing an image of a plasticized model is not more appealing than the natural look – total exposure from head to foot and all the parts in between. The latest to join in this new advertising acceptance crusade are fellow blonds, Britney Spears in Candie’s and Jessica Simpson in Marie Claire. Add to this the new naked revelations of fellow celebrities Kim Kardashian, reality television star, Amanda de Cadenet, photographer, and Joy Bryant actress and you have a growing trend.
These 3 stars popped up un-retouched and nude in the most recent issue of Harper’s Bazaar. Not to be left behind, French Vogue offers its own front-and-centre or down-and-dirty version in its editorial. Crystal Renn, a major proponent of the curving woman movement and a plus-size model, has bared it all. Her abundant pubic hair features prominently. The Cut refers to it as “a metaphor for the return to curves as a return to nature.” In doing so, the fashionable world agrees to approve of less high daily maintenance at the gym, and on the lower abdomen’s hairier places.

Grindr, the American gay male connections application – with lesbian and straight versions on the way, just marked its first birthday. There was a party to celebrate it in many cities, including Sydney, but there is now something missing. Instead of greeting their second year with characteristic brashness, the site declared a ban on photo images of pubic hair, sexually explicit imagery and anything revealing the beast below the waist.
There is a new meaning to “putting on the Ritz” these days. If you want that total glow from tip to toe, you have to vagazzle.
